SYMBIOSIS
By Alongkorn Lauwattana
22 June 2010
Opening Reception: Thursday ,22 June 2010, 7pm @Galerie N on Withayu Rd.
SYMBIOSIS is the latest exhibition by the well- respected artist Alongkorn Lauwatthana. Rooted in Buddhist thoughts, his works reflect the maturation of his beliefs and as depicted in his earlier projects, he seeks to explore and convey the message that everything in the world is all ONE, interconnected and that everything depends upon and coexists with each other. Light needs darkness, flowers needs bees… all mankind belong into a brotherhood, where man and woman become one, where they complete and enhance each other. Man is light; woman is shadow and they merge together to complement each other in opposite ways. Within humans the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, tongue, body and spirit all perform different functions, yet these function when tied together contribute to make us human… our strength and weakness are intertwined…if we look close we’ll see that which we thought was disparate actually create harmony and balance in the world in which we live.
In this series of work, the artist experiences his thoughts through vivid forms and colours that intertwine with all the elements; they show the inseparable relationship of things in the world.
“Life and the world are cyclical, nothing is permanent, there is rise and fall, birth and sickness, glory and defeat… and the laws of nature that keep everything in balance.”
