Rim of Universe
a solo exhibition by Unchalee Anantawat
1 – 30 May 2010
Opening reception: Friday, May 7, 7pm onwards at the gallery

ArtGorillas ArtGallery is pleased to present “Rim of Universe”, the first solo show by a talented multi-discipline young artist, Unchalee Anantawat, which will be featuring a collection of her drawings, paintings, animation, music, mural, and site-specific installation.

In Rim of Universe, Unchalee Anantawat further explores her interest in dream and reality that began since she was young. Despite keeping wondering and counting to those recurring dreams, she recently realized that those dreams and imagination she has had might actually be the same thing. The more she draws those imagery from her head and her dreams, the more she sees them as a message from other spaces as those creatures are trying to be friend with us here. Consequently, she keep introducing her friends to this planet by her drawing and animating skills.

Unchalee Anantawat was born in 1982 in Bangkok. After getting a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Faculty of Fine and Applied Art at Chulalongkorn University, she decided to to make all of her design elements, sometimes called ‘doodles’, become alive by further studying in animation at RMIT, Australia. While she was spending a good quality time in Melbourne, apart from riding her bike to parties around town, she became part of ‘Tape Projects’, an art collective doing installations, performances, talks, screenings, as well as curating works across states and countries. Now that she is back to her hometown, Unchalee still secretly and continually plans her way out to other universes.

An opening reception will take place from 7-9pm on Friday, May 7.

Exhibition will run from May 1 – 30, 2010.
